In Loving Memory of Tyronesha Shanae Sherlock-Benton 🕊️
With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we gather in remembrance of Tyronesha Shanae Sherlock-Benton, a beloved daughter, friend, and member of the Fayetteville community, whose life was tragically lost in a traffic collision on April 24, 2026.
On the late evening of that day, at approximately 11:47 p.m., officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to a devastating single-vehicle crash at Raeford Road and the I-295 south entrance ramp. What they encountered was a scene of sudden tragedy that would leave family, friends, and the community in mourning.
According to preliminary findings from the Fayetteville Police Department’s Traffic Unit, Tyronesha, a 36-year-old resident of Fayetteville, was operating a 2013 Dodge Charger traveling east on Raeford Road at a high rate of speed. As she attempted to navigate the right turn onto the I-295 southbound entrance ramp, the vehicle was unable to safely complete the maneuver and crashed. Despite emergency response efforts, Tyronesha Shanae Sherlock-Benton was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene.
Her passing was sudden, unexpected, and deeply heartbreaking for those who knew and loved her. In an instant, a life filled with memories, relationships, and personal meaning was taken, leaving behind grief that words can scarcely contain. Authorities have confirmed that her next of kin has been notified as they begin the painful process of mourning and remembrance.
A passenger in the vehicle, 26-year-old Mikayla Love Langhirt of Fayetteville, was also affected by the crash. She was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where she remains in stable condition. While she continues to recover physically, the emotional weight of the incident is undoubtedly profound.
As the investigation continues, the Fayetteville Police Department encourages anyone with information to come forward and assist in understanding the full circumstances surrounding this tragic event. Even as questions remain, what is certain is the loss felt by those closest to Tyronesha.
But beyond the details of the crash, there is a life that must be remembered.
Tyronesha Shanae Sherlock-Benton was more than a name in a report. She was a living, breathing presence in the lives of those who knew her. She carried her own story—one filled with laughter, struggles, dreams, connections, and moments that mattered deeply to the people around her. She was someone’s family, someone’s friend, someone’s source of joy and comfort.
In moments like these, it becomes important to pause and remember not only how a life ended, but how it was lived. The conversations shared, the memories created, the impact she left on others—all of these remain, even in her absence. Grief may feel overwhelming now, but love and memory endure far beyond the tragedy.
Those who knew Tyronesha will remember her in their own personal ways: in the sound of her voice, in the energy she brought into a room, in the shared experiences that cannot be erased. Her absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, but her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
As her loved ones face the difficult days ahead, may they find strength in one another and comfort in the memories they hold. May they feel supported by their community and surrounded by compassion as they navigate this unimaginable loss.
We also extend our thoughts to Mikayla Love Langhirt, wishing her healing and strength as she recovers, both physically and emotionally, from this traumatic experience.
Today, we remember Tyronesha Shanae Sherlock-Benton with respect, sorrow, and love. Her life mattered. Her memory matters. And though her time here was cut short, she will not be forgotten.
Rest in peace, Tyronesha. Your light lives on in the hearts you touched. 🕊️💔
